Welcome To American Martial Arts
Center
The
American Martial Arts Center is dedicated to
providing a safe
martial arts experience for students of all ages.
The goal is to provide a path for personal development through
focused scientific training that promotes physical fitness and
positive social interaction in a courteous and fun
environment. While the physical training in
TaeKwon-Do is important, the instructors at the
American Martial Arts Center
believe that our most important responsibility is to
instill in our students a sense of discipline and moral
culture that will allow them to live their lives more fully.
This is done by stressing the Tenets of TaeKwon-Do:
Courtesy
Integrity
Perseverance
Self-Control
Indomitable Spirit
Our philosophy at the American Martial Arts Center
promotes incorporation of the Tenets of
TaeKwon-Do into the daily lives of our students.
In addition to developing effective self-defense skills you
will also increase:
Stamina
Flexibility
Focus
Self-confidence
to name but a few of the benefits you will gain from
studying
TaeKwon-Do at the American Martial Arts Center.
At the American Martial Arts Center we have been “Building
Character and Teaching Success Through TaeKwon-Do” since
1985.
Below we have provided a featured testimonials about our
program and our tip-of-the-week!
The fifth student oath of TaeKwon-Do states: "I shall
build a more peaceful world".
I am often asked "Sir, how can I stop wars and people
shooting at each other?" Well, the answer is simple
you can't! What you can do however is take
responsibility for yourself and how you CHOOSE to respond
when confronted with violence (physical, verbal or
otherwise). We choose if we are going to respond with
more violence or if we are going to kindness and love.
I am not saying you should never protect yourself, when
someone is truly trying to hurt or kill you, you have no
choice but to protect yourself. However, those are few
situations are few and far between and most students will
never find themselves in a situation like that.
More often than not we find ourselves confronted by
a person being a jerk a bully. When that person taunts
us verbally or pushes us physically, it our choice how we
respond. Do we push back, do we take it further and
hit, do we call names back? For the martial artist the
answer is simple. Since understand what will happen if
we use our art, understand that the person (and perhaps
ourselves) will be seriously injured we choose to avoid
physical violence if we can avoid it. We avoid the
violence not out of fear, but out of respect for all living
things to exist (even the jerks).
