Our School

Established in 1985 the American Martial Arts Center has been known for producing some of the finest martial artists in the country.  With so many different schools in the Madison area to chose from the American Martial Arts Center has differentiated itself through its’…

  • Teaching traditional ITF TaeKwon-Do.  Mr. McDaniel has been practicing martial arts since 1974 (holding a 2nd degree in Aikido as well) and been practicing ITF style TaeKwon-Do for over 20 years (having practiced Olympic style WTF TaeKwon-Do prior to that).

  • Scientific approach to instruction.  All the black belts are certified by the ITF/USTF through Mr. McDaniel and as part of their training are taught standardized methods to teach the techniques and philosophies in a manner that is age appropriate and adaptable to the various learning paradigms of our students.

  • Separate workout areas for adults and kids.  Many children (and many adults) are not comfortable learning in a mixed environment, nor is teaching all age groups at the same time appropriate.  The American Martial Arts Center has created its class age groupings based on well established developmental bracketing.  It is well known that 4 to 6 year olds learn much differently than 7 to 14 year olds, etc.  Our classes are setup so that curriculum can be taught in an age appropriate manner to young and adult alike.

  • Balanced approach to instruction in TaeKwon-Do and striving to build well rounded students through excellent instruction in the physical aspects of TaeKwon-Do but putting emphasis on the students incorporation of the Tenets of TaeKwon-Do (Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and Indomitable Spirit) into their daily lives.

  • Instructors level of caring and focus on each student.  The American Martial Arts Center’s instructors realize that they are here to install discipline and focus into each student while building that student’s self-confidence.

  • Understanding and experience with kids with special needs.  Mr. McDaniel’s sits on the board of directors for United Cerebral Palsy of Dane County and his own daughter has special needs.  He has passed on his personal experience to his instructors and together they provide an environment that is conducive to kids and adults alike with ADD, ADHD and many other special needs.

  • Common sense approach to, and highly effective self-defense program that focuses not only on the physical counters to various attacks but emphasizes the need for situational awareness and preplanning.  Unfortunately a must in today’s often violent world.

  • Approach in short defines & builds positive Attitude, Behavior and Character!

We believe strongly that we have the best program in the Madison area, register for our introductory offer on this website or give us a call (608) 831-5967 and let us prove it to you…
